The Rising Moon Poem by Jonathan H. Scott

The Rising Moon

The rising moon
And, yet, so far from home—
And come the haunting thoughts of you,
Forever and
Wherever I may roam.

With no escape,
And my heart shackled still,
You come and go, but mostly come
And always stay
Against my will.

Were you but real
And ours no fleeting tryst,
Would then your charms and favors be
No thing
I could resist?

Now, breaks the dawn!
Oh, what I would not give
To wake beside my real true Love—
To have, to hold,
To Live!
