The Road Trip Poem by Megan Colligan

The Road Trip

Chasing a road of no destination
I can fathom my flaiting dream
tracing amnesia
through thick and thin seams

Driving to a junction
and reeling in a fast lane
I am turning round a familiar corner
reliving through my pain

Now that I'm crossing a speed bump
I can't help but look back
to a section that is dilapidated
and was courted by a speed trap

Ignoring the dogleg of salvation
my life is at a truck stop
silhouetted by a heavy burden
one that will never stop
