The Réti Opening Poem by Charles The Anonymous

The Réti Opening

Knights to the front.
Is how I would play it.
Everything is lost yet so adjacent.
My bishop continues his hunt.
On the long diagonal is where he shall strike.
My opponent's king castles, and tries to run.
Though his queen is abandoned and no where in sight.
Their love could never be separated through nor rank, nor file, nor pin, nor fork.
Yet the bishop is daunting and some things don't work.
The Reti opening rings true in how art imitates this life.
