The Sad Plight Of The Elderly Today! Poem by Dr John Celes

The Sad Plight Of The Elderly Today!

Whom can I blame?
None can I blame;
All are at fault;
All are to blame!

Most elderly are neglected;
They have no love or home to stay;
No one is there to care for them;
They're left to live in solitude!

How well they'd slogged when they were young!
How much they'd toiled for others' sake!
Now when their lives are ebbing fast,
Their children fail to tend to them!

The world is turning elderly!
More senior citizens go sick;
They need health-care and other things,
But there is no one to help them!

Exhausted are their money, time;
They sacrificed all things in life;
Death threatens them akin a thief;
While world sleeps soundly, they're awake!

Society feels they are burden!
Their noble work is now forgot;
Now when their end seems pretty near,
They long for love and care that's rare!

The cruel world is deaf and blind!
In silence, they suffer a lot;
Who cares if they are dead, alive?
God takes them only when He wants!
