The Same Game Poem by Jayson Howard

The Same Game

Of every game I played in life,
why would this one be any different?
any different…

It’s still the same as before,
you wanted friendship, I wanted more.
for three years I waited for nothing at all,
because you “fell, ” I guess I’ll have to refall, myself,
for someone else.

Every game I played in life,
I was always one space behind,
and that makes the difference,
it’ll never be different,
never be different at all.
Of all the games I’ve played in life,
why’d your smile have to be so bright?
I don’t think I’ll be alright,
when nothing will ever be different.

You wanted friendship, I wanted more.
We’ve got to end this, close the door,
Or it’ll stay the same as before.
