How can I recite the fading alphabets—
The Scripture never left—
The dawn o' history
Judas and th' kiss and you an' a refugee
Violets, I remember—
Its blueness in thine eyes—
They bloomed together—
Like an ephemeral reverie—
And I scribed
An aubade, I chanted—
A ritual—divine—
Until a knell resonated—
A knell to mine ears—
An' a raven arrived
The star-crossed Scripture—
An' the engraved violets —I behold
A keepsake from the Waste Land—
Futile—like Voynich—
And the inscription on a stone
You donned the ground
Still naked in Poesy
Violets and Dawn—
And the aubade—divine
All disperse in thee
