The Secret Behind Closed Doors Poem by Leah Ayliffe

The Secret Behind Closed Doors

Rating: 0.5

To love and lost, and yet never to have
To miss what was never mine, never ours
Through the mysteries of the broken heart
Where touches and stares went silent
Left unnoticed, compelled to dark corners

Slipping through my fingers
Though the hands I miss weren’t mine to hold
You and me, always meant as a secret
Yet in every stare, every kiss behind closed doors
Filled me, consumed with fate and destiny

I saw it in your soul; reflecting sadness
Our one regret
To never realize the future of the loss that came
Only it is not our loss, but mine
I’ll be lost and lonely

Swimming against a tide I’ll never overcome
While you have her hand to hold
In front for the world to see
Away from me; the secret behind closed doors
