The Shadows Poem by Mduduzi OneMind

The Shadows

Day and Light
Between the earthly grounds
Lies the songs sang by our ancestors
Songs of victory turned to voices of ashes
The shadows are catching on

Day and Light
We roam around the rock streets
Followed by unseen presence
A being that stalks our existence
Slowly we become bones before ashes

Night and Dark
We disappear into the shadows
Into a place of our ancestors
A place that is unseen by living man
A place that is feared by living men

The shadows are catching up
Soon we will be no more but names of memory
