The Shore Poem by anna michelle

The Shore

Rating: 5.0

Walking through a bright lit night
Looking all around
So close to finding what I seek
But still it is not found
I cross a desert and a sea
With dwindling hopes in store
Then I land upon the very banks
Of that blessed shore
The air is clear, the grass is bright
The animals gather near
For when I embrace that blessed shore
I tasted what was dear
There is a gate so close to me
The whiteness burns my eyes
I try to climb right over it
I need what in it lies
The wall is high, I am so weak
I try to climb and fail
I am without someone helping me
Alone I am so frail
I go back to the shore with no one near
No one to rescue me
The ones I know have walked away
To pay a higher fee
I look back once to the shining gate
Someone’s standing there
He walks up to me, picks me up
A face that is so fair
In His arms I’m cradled close
the love is surrounding
In my ears the whispers come
what He says is astounding
“Forever I waited we’re together now”
I gasped in delight
“I am the King of any king”
I don’t draw back in fright
For His words are soft, they will not harm
His eyes are shining gold
His face is beautiful and so kind
His heart is very bold
His hands are pierced, His back is scarred
A spear went in His side
A crown of thorns rest on His head
But still I do not hide
He carried me to the shining gate
So with Him I now live
All His life and now mine too
He has so much to give
