Seeking to know,
I crossed the valley of ignorance
and rose from the ocean of truth—
a wave
longing for the shore
of that same ocean.
But how strange:
the shore I set out to reach
is nowhere.
There is only ocean.
I, too,
am one of its waves—
the ocean
remembering itself.
It has grown late.
Rain falls.
Night has entered the world.
I walk through the ocean.
The path knows me,
for I have walked it
since before time.
Wonder after wonder,
and still I do not stop.
Perhaps wonder
is another name
for the ocean of the unseen.
The Unseen
has always held my hand.
I have not been afraid.
I, the eternal traveler,
sit in the chariot of my heart
and watch the present
pass the windows—
past and future
strung on a rosary of one bead.
I the sight of Now
the divisions of time
dissolve.
There is only a river
with no beginning,
no end.
The victory I celebrate
is nowhere outside me.
It rose
within.
