The partial intellect complained
to the Lord, the Creator:
'Why did You create man?
Why did You fashion him
in the best of proportions?
Look at what he has become—
violence, wars, killings,
tyranny and injustice,
indifference and narcissism,
greed and consumerism,
distraction without end.
Why, O Lord,
did You bring such a creature
into being? '
Then the Lord said:
'It is because of you
that man has become distracted.
You have divided
what was created whole.
You have taught him
to see himself apart from others,
and others apart from himself.
You have made him forget
the path of peace,
the way of love,
the truth of oneness.
But whoever follows
the spiritual intellect
will discover within
a teacher of the spirit—
a guide toward the Truth,
a way beyond division.
For it is eternal intelligence:
neither divisive nor hostile,
but friendly toward all creation;
an intelligence through which
truth rises above falsehood,
love overcomes hatred,
and unity gathers together
what the partial mind
has torn apart.'
Then I said:
'O Lord,
for me there is no protector
other than You.
Guide me upon the straight path
beneath the luminous light
of spiritual intelligence.
Let me pass beyond
the divided mind
into the intelligence
that knows no separation—
until, in Your light,
I see truth as truth,
love as love,
and creation itself
as one sacred sign
of Your eternal wisdom.'
