The Siege Poem by Jon Whiting

The Siege

For years the battle fierce has raged
My life consumed with onslaught dire
Blow by blow the war is waged
The tides of foes rise higher, higher

I have no comrades bound to rescue
I hear the steps of coffin’s draper
Surrounded now, I’m sinking into
The clutches of my foe – PAPER
