The Silence Treatment Poem by Abby Belmont

The Silence Treatment

I scream the words that you don't hear
But you show no sign that you care
Just acknowledge that I'm here
But all you do is sit and stare

A lifetime ago you heard every word
And now your silence slices like a sword
I must have died that day
Cause you treat me like a ghost when I have something to say

Can you see me at all?
I became invisible after that fall
Look away to something else
In my silence you hear my pulse

A fading memory blown away
Like dust in the wind they say
You blocked me out of your hear
As you lay in your death bed
