The Sixty-Three Million Dollar Question Poem by Bryan Corbett

The Sixty-Three Million Dollar Question

Rating: 5.0

somewhere in California
somewhere in The Valley
somewhere in some random 7-Eleven
a man buys his morning coffee,
a donut, and
a lottery ticket

but,
this one is not just any old lottery ticket
this one is a very special lottery ticket, indeed
this one is The One with all the winning numbers
this one is The One that hit the Jackpot
this one is worth sixty three million dollars, but
this man never comes forward to claim
this prize

but,
the Authorities claim
that it would just be 'impossible'
to track this man down
      so, this money
all of it - every single penny -
will be donated
to the local schools
(you'll forgive my doubts)

but,
I'll bet you
  dollars to donuts, THAT
               if I killed THAT man
          who bought THAT ticket
                            THAT won that Jackpot
                              THAT the Authorities
just might find it 'possible'
to track me down
and arrest me

yeah,
I'd just bet THAT...
