The Smiling Buddha Poem by felix lama

The Smiling Buddha

Desire for detachment!
Yearning for liberation!
are they anyway better than attachment?
or like thoughts of a revolution.

Paradox - attachment to the thought of detachment
the tough tides in the ocean of ego
then how we reach spiritual enchantment?
By thy master's soulful placebo

Milarepa, Padmasambhava* and all the enlightened
masters of mountains and wind,
show me the territory to be conquered...
in the darkest corners of my mind

Lotus postures, Bardos** and the self
which is the path to become the smiling kid
Bonding to my feeling's shelf-
to be burned to see those dreams so vivid

Milarepa - a Tibetan Buddhist yogi and master
Padhmasambhava- A Buddhist master who is often referred as ' second Buddha'
Bardos- an intermediate state in our existence, death, or before rebirth according to Tibetan Buddhist traditions
