The Songbird Poem by Jimmy L. Lyons

The Songbird

I know a beautiful woman;
she sings with a beautiful voice.
When I hear her sing in the choir,
it causes my heart to rejoice.

This songbird loves God so truly
that it almost brings tears to my eyes.
Her songs seem to come straight from heaven,
from a songbird high in the skies.

This songbird excels in the kitchen;
she can cook just as well as she sings.
Someday she'll have her own restaurant
serving food and music fit for kings.

This songbird doesn't know that I'm writing
a poem to applaud her sweet songs;
God has blessed her with talent and beauty,
and a voice that can right the world's wrongs.

I'm praying a prayer for this songbird
and hoping God will hear what I say;
this beautiful, God-fearing woman
deserves all of the prayers I can pray.
