The Soul's A Deep Pool Poem by Kevin Cox

The Soul's A Deep Pool

The soul is a deep pool, living within
It reflects all that it sees
And absorbs what it reflects.
Some things - the heavy ones
Settle deeply to the bottom
And don't welcome the light of day
The soul is also the fount of tears
When we weep 'tis the soul's rain.
These rains do not bode well
If open wounds are rained upon.
The older wounds that never healed
Are stones within the pond.
Weighing down our spirit
Keeping it from flight.
There comes a special day
When the time is finally come
To look upon the pond
Cast light upon what's there
It's seldom done alone
A special friend with special care
Should be our guide to what's below
And hinder fear's despairing cry.
The day will come when light will shine
Upon the beauty of the pond
And only friends will be found there
And all the stones have been removed.
