The stepping stone

By Augustus Quaicoe

I thought you were an obstacle
Thou gigantic mass of stone
To hinder me from advancing
A hurdle that makes, me trips and fall

In my aggression, to haul you away
I only hurt myself
In my fear to approach you
I could not see you, for what you really are
In my hatred of you
I neglected you into scorn

At a moment of perfect reflection
I realize, that you were placed in my path, to test my resolve
To hinder the weak, from advancing
To become, my weapon, against my Goliath
To become, the corner stone of my foundation
And to help me, get to the zenith of my rising,

Standing on top of your now
I see the world clearly; so beautiful and wide
I see the obstacle is the way
Behold the pedestal of majesty
The stepping stone
