The Stone Heart Poem by Silence Dogood

The Stone Heart

The coldness of his heart
in my hands
Petrifies my skin
to the colour of ashen trees
No beating sound
can be heard
no warmth felt
It's flesh
and blood
but barely alive
this heart
made of stone
cannot last
it's dying
wilting
Like a rose
in winters
bitter nights
It need the love
I posses
that I carry
within me
It needs
but doesnt want
this heart made of stone
carries with it
the feelings of a rock
solid and hard
a defense
a wall
for the fragile inside
that remains vulnerable
breakable
just dust
to crumble between my fingers
This heart
is living death
for it feels no love
only sorrow
and it has hardened
because of it
But I shall break
this impenetrable
shield
to divulge
what lays hidden
To find the soul
that was concealed
I shall free him
of an icy fortress
preventing him
from loving me
as I love him.
