The Stripping Off Of The I, The Me, The Mine

Rating: 5.0

All the mystics agree
that the stripping off
of personal initiative,
the I, the Me, the Mine,
utter renouncement
and the self-abandonment
to the direction of a large will
is an imperative condition
of the attainment of
the unitive life.

The self is made part of
the Mystical body of God
and humbly takes its place
in the corporate life of Reality.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

This beautiful poem brings to mind a verse that says, It's no longer me that lives but Christ that lives in me. Self has been over taken by the mere surrender of ego and now has completely surrendered mind, body and soul to Almighty God. This transformation now allows one to operate as Jesus promised contingent to the taking on of His likeness. Thanks for sharing, Tony.
