The Swan and Her Young
Upon the quiet silver lake,
A graceful swan began to wake.
Beneath her wings, so warm and wide,
Her little cygnets slept inside.
One morning bright, beneath the sun,
She saw her little ones had come.
With tiny wings and feathers new,
They followed her across the blue.
She taught them how to swim and glide,
And kept them always by her side.
Through gentle waves and skies of gray,
She watched them learn a little each day.
"Oh, little ones, be brave and free,
The world is wide as you can see.
But wherever you may roam or fly,
My love will follow through the sky."
And on the lake, beneath the sun,
The mother swan and every one
Moved softly through the shining blue—
A family born, loving and true.
