The System Poem by Stephen S. Yeandle

The System

the quintessential film noir
debut in
two thousand three

DC

careful orchestration
of
cognitive dissonance

neoconservative strategy

Pax Americana

beading and embroidery
a little smoke and mirror
helps to make the sale

no aesthetic morals
remove them from our way

wars essential to a government

best occupy and acquiesce
the minds of questioning men

drive them across the Rubicon
then
no turning back

Locked and loaded
armaments

perpetuated power

macho choreography

by a rhinestone cowboy
from Connecticut
