The Tale Of Juliet Poem by Andrus Cassian

The Tale Of Juliet

Friends forever...what we pledged...
a pinkie promise combined with a tied knot
to say we'd never part...
Lovers for a few months...asked for her hand in marriage
well was said, never an attempt
but mutually she agreed, said yes with tearful, happy eyes
To my demise, an argument came and surprised
surprise, I was left with no one
my life ripped from my chest
while within seconds
she quickly begged for someone else to take my place...
Friends forever...lovers once...
I love her despite what she put me through
I despise her for everything she's put me through
I despise her...
I blamed myself for our falling apart and breaking off
well I did until she came clean
and placed the blame on her shoulders
I denied every bit of it and try to reclaim the blame
let the blame be my burden to carry
while she flies off on angel wings
but through the year that has passed
I let her keep the blame, thrust it back in her face
She infuriates me
she tosses me aside everytime
for a counterfeit romeo she claims each time
after day one, she couldn't be any happier
after day one, she's in love
after day one, he's better than me...
(sigh) better than me...
Is it why you're back on your knees
crying back to me
saying you miss me, saying you love me...
Juliet, Juliet...
Juliet, how could you be blind to the fact that you're killing me
every time you choose to speak to me
Juliet, dont you know what you've done to me
You keep coming back, coming back like there's something left of me
to whisper you love me, whisper you miss me
to blow me off the next day
and not speak to me for another few months
until you need someone to pick you up when you're down
or advice on your traitorous relationship...
Juliet, Juliet...how dare you...
Juliet, Juliet...is everything we ever promised each other...
just empty air, empty words...
Juliet, Juliet...
I'm not perfect but for you, I kept trying
told you, you were my everything
wanted a daughter to be as beautiful as you
for I thought you to be her mother
I swore to take a bullet for you
cause I'd be there for you no matter what
All that I asked for was for you to say you felt the same...
but now it's come to this...
If my eyes could speak, I don't know what they would say
but all I can say
is only things I've screamed inside my head so many times before
I can only ask you to promise me, promise me
to remember us for a fond memory
for I will be fine without you...
I will be fine without you...
