The Thread Poem by Sandra LampeMartin

The Thread

Rating: 3.5

There is a thread of celestial design
Cast into the hands of man
Ill used, stretched, frayed to its fiber
It remains unbroken, woven
Through the edifice of endless time.

Man draws on its strength
Tests the thread daily
It defies scientific theory
Remains an uncalculated fact
Binding mankind together.

Lost and found, fired and rekindled
Blessed and cursed,
Never forgotten or well remembered
Without it we perish
Yet man often doubts its presence.

Cling to the illusion
Believe in it completely
Wear it for protection
Never throw it away casually
Pray constantly for its strength.

For the thread of celestial design
Is not lightly woven for us
But it holds us together
Leads us to the end
And the beginning.

I like how you keep suspense throughout the poem. I really want to know more about the thread!
