The Timeline We Are Tramping On

'The time is in the finite of every instant'*
but we have memories
what we pet name the days lent,
given to yesterdays;
till we have a hope to name,
fondling our own being,
tomorrows with a mime
to lap with the ages' being.
and you all say, on and on,
we are friends, in comely tone,
to burn even the sun aflame,
simply lighting a wick to fame**
at the sunset, as if to hail him
to our home, for ours darkness
never to solemnly, say, doom.
he is the friend of darkness,
as we walk through the tunnels,
to reach the edge, where the flame
help us save from the tunnel vision.
help us save from all trials unknown.
