The Traitor's Sacrificial Lamb Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Traitor's Sacrificial Lamb

The leader speaks with heavy tone,
He wants the man to leave his throne.
The choice is made, the lines are drawn,
While shadows grow across the dawn.

The helper turns to join the foe,
To strike a friend with hidden blow.
The arms of peace are put aside,
With nowhere left for truth to hide.

A story written, dark and deep,
While promises are lost in sleep.
A betrayal etched in history's light,
As day is traded for the night.

The gears of war begin to turn,
While cities fall and houses burn.
A heavy shift, a cold new light,
That aids the dark against the right.

The ink is dry upon the page,
A story written for this age.
Of promises that fell away,
And friends who chose to walk away.

History watches, stern and deep,
A bitter vow the nations keep.
The greatest break, the broken bond,
With shadows cast on all beyond.
