The Trial Of The Wounded Poem by Martins Akhoeneto

The Trial Of The Wounded

The world condemns the reaction,
but never investigates the wound.
It puts the thunder on trial
and acquits the lightning.

The hand that strikes goes unseen;
the hand that strikes back is judged.

The wound has no witness.
The blood has an audience.
