The Truth Is Poem by Richard Randolph

The Truth Is

When all the words are said and done,
and all the battles lost and won,
and all the stories have been sung,
no matter what you think,
or what you've done,
the truth is.

No matter how cunningly you try to hide,
or how many times a thing's denied,
or how convincingly you've lied,
no matter what you think,
or what you've done,
the truth is.

Even if wrong wins over right,
even if light falls into night,
even if the seeing lose their sight,
no matter what you think,
or what you've done,
the truth is.

It doesn't matter what you say,
it doesn't matter if you curse or pray,
it doesn't matter how much you pay,
no matter what you think,
or what you've done,
the truth is.

Let it be known across the land,
though everything seems to rest on shifting sand,
there is still a solid place to stand,
for no matter what you think,
or what you've done,
the truth is.
