The Two’s - Poem by Obute Gabriel

The familiar two’s
Phenomenon; um….. Fundamental
Foundation of which the earth stand
Even creation has acknowledge you
As the pair that can never walk alone
You open up in every sphere of life
You present yourself as the only
Option life can take

Oh! The two’s
You appear as body and soul
Heavens and earth
Day and night
Land and water
Man and woman
Life and death
Ups and down
And as many times I would have love to
Even most importantly
As you and i

Oh! This wonderful two’s
There is rather no world
Without you and i
You and I is what the world is waiting
You need me just as I need you
Why killing the pairs (two’s)
Why excluding one another
Why hurting your pairs in the name of fame and money
Just I can’t stand alone
Oh! It’s all-encompassing in the beginning
As if you must know
It is a world of two’s

Poet's Notes about The Poem

This poem describe both the white and black race that we all need each other right from the beginning of the world even as God has created everything in pairs and has not separated one from the other. It also includes religion ie Muslim and Christian, why are we fighting when we equally need one another at every end. Finally. It looks at everyone who feel life is only for him or his family or friends to think twice, life is you and i

I dedicate this poem to the God of all things even as to the creation that he has made

I was inspired by the strong feelings of seeing others as myself and the pains many others are going through as a result of disparity and harsh hatred that the world has thought us against our neighbours and to remind us that we are all created from one source to live together as one
