The Tyranny Of Rulers Poem by David Oladipupo Olorunshola

The Tyranny Of Rulers

The rulers go about with so
Much funfair and accolade;
From their cronies and sycophants
That parade.

Themselves with so much gusto
And arrogance;
While the ruled have lost their
Pride and elegance.

They know not what to do with
Their affluence and possessions;
While the ruled are naked on
The streets begging bread and
Badly dispossessed.

The rulers rob and loot the
Nations treasury dry and starched
Away;
Yet, the ruled cannot afford
Neither a roof over his head nor three
Square meals a day.

They send others children onto
The streets as touts to kill and maim;
While their own are shipped overseas
To acquire in other to come back and claim.

They systematically and deliberately
Destroy the nation’s infrastructure,
And left others unattended and unfunded;
While they built skyscrapers and
Acquire houses with the nations looted
Fund.

The rulers use religion as a platform,
For setting communities ablaze and
At loggerhead;
While the people ignorantly believe
And waylaid one another to behead
