Bumper-To-Bumper Poem by David Oladipupo Olorunshola

Bumper-To-Bumper

Just before dawn
Before the sun rises,
Rising as early as possible
With the hen clucking still
Driving so crazily along,
Like on a mission to Golgotha
Yet, failing to reach early,
That which give food to
The family; place of work
Though, rushing out
In other to reach early,
All came to nought.
Missing the appointments,
All ruffled up and looking
Exasperated and frustrated
Limping along from hours
Of been trapped in traffic.
Every junction a commotion,
A point of confusion.
With everyone in a hurry,
Some taking one way
Facing oncoming cars.
Traffic rules disregarded
Nor obeying traffic wardens.
Long line of vehicles,
That makes you dizzy.
Spending hours on end
At the same spot
Crawling along at a snail pace
And with any small rain,
There is complete anarchy
Bumper-to-bumper.
