The Umbra Poem by Jamie Dewyer

The Umbra

'the cold rain is over'
she points towards a star
'that ones been dead for years'
i try not to drive the car

but motion is funny, see
'you're not steering properly'
laughing with both eyes closed
'we're going off the road'

...there's a moment when
gravity does not exist
eventually, unfortunately
everything resists

'i can see blood in your eyes'
the sundials they left us
were perfectly attuned for eclipse
and just as the penumbra folded in on itself
'we're going back up'

and the road rewinds
everytime
over and over

'the cold rain is over'
she points towards a star
'that ones been dead for years'
