The Unthinkable Poem by Natasha StubbsEnnis

The Unthinkable

Leaves,
They fall on the cold ground,
My heart can pound,
I can’t hear a sound,
But that doesn’t matter
Because I’m with you,
The stars are woven into the sky,
The steel ringed moon is bright,
The sky is black tonight,
Netted tights can’t catch fish,
But they can over the lies,
Life is blurred,
Distorted in everyone’s eyes,
Fear will drive you insane,
So insane you won’t feel pain,
You’re afraid of chances,
That might lead you to the door,
Instead you’re crying on the floor,
Saying you can’t take anymore,
Because you can’t bear the unthinkable.
