The Untitled Poem Poem by Jessie LaurenNicole

The Untitled Poem

Rating: 5.0

Once promised a life so sincere
My love for him slowly unfolded in fear
A sacred soul, me dearly beloved
Shreds of doubt never hovered
Genuine hearts captured my heart
His presence played a vital part
Words proclaimed of endless love
Soared high on the wings of a dove
Tricked me to fall once more
Urging me to open a new door
Enchanting dreams consumed my head
Erasing any lingering dread
My heart was on the mend
Reminding me of a happily ever end
The luxury on my left finger
Proved to be a dead ringer
Exposing emotions so true
Holding on to what I foolishly knew
My heart slowly bled
As naked limbs sheathed his bed
A soul gradually lost
Walls built that couldn't be crossed
Regrets embedded on my wrist
Memories forever reminisced
The end was surely near
For he was no longer here
A heart shattered
Bruised and tattered
An onyx hue of pain
Mourning the never again

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The day I decided to write this poem was the day I chose to explain an extremely painful story that took place in my past. A friend of my, whose name is Dylan, encouraged me to write again. Before Dylan, I had given up any hope of ever writing again. Other than my Creative Writing class, I had abandoned creating any new poems or stories. I didn't believe I could produced something that withheld all the pent-up emotions that were buried so deep inside me I didn't even know they existed. So, I would like to thank Dylan for setting these very words in motion and for naming my poem. Thanks Dylan!
