The View Poem by Lee Pilleteri

The View

why do you look at me
with an obscured view?
look in the mirror
and take a look at you.

you look at me as if
I'm not right in the head
not there yet,
not clinically brain dead.

Sure I've made mistakes
all of them in the past
you thought I'd keep falling
and I'd never last.

But I'll prove you wrong
you'll see that I'm right
just think about this
when you're alone tonight.
