The Visit Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Visit

The visit with John and Elaine
Was more than we could expect
The short time with them was packed
With memories we now can reflect

Of course, I had to take a photo
Of John sitting at his desk
For this is where he creates
Web pages that are truly the best

It was also fun to peek inside
The place that holds wonderful ‘stuff’
No matter how much he has
There is NEVER really enough

John’s refrigerator magnets
Just made my blue eyes cross
There are just so many of them
One missing would not be a loss

Oh, you must see the egg, Folks
Beautiful with oriental design
He got it at a garage sale
It’s unusual and truly sublime

I’m sure when he brings home
A new object to add to the rest
Elaine smiles and shakes her head
After all, she loves him best

And the white tiger, wow!
He’s quite a handsome guy
Why John paid a tremendous price
In just the blink of an eye

And then it was time to leave for us
Down the trail in our ‘antique’ home
We said good-bye to Elaine and John
So down the road we could roam!
