The Voice Poem by Pathrese Lei Mari Abejuela

The Voice

The voice that calls
Through rain and sun,
Through dark and light
Is a voice that summons.

Where does it come from?
How did it find me?
What does it want?
Why does it call?

Your afraid to answer
So you hide in your cocoon.
But your heart revealed
Like a butterfly in bloom.

Your heart can’t compose itself
Without flying in rage
Through rain and sun,
Through dark and light.

The voice puzzles you why;
You needlessly search it.
Into the ocean you risk,
Into the desert you fast.

When the voice stops calling
And summons no more
You faint
Into an empty void and fall.

As you fall; go further into the void,
The voice revives you.
It fills the air end pampers you
With the breeze of purpose and the call.

You have not found the voice
But the voice have searched and found you
Through rain and sun,
Through dark and light.

How lovely you fly now
With the wings the voice have brought you
