The Voice Of The Silence Poem by Ranjan Sah

The Voice Of The Silence

The clouds and the mists embarking on a journey
In the coldest night possible, of winter and
The light from the disproportionately-lit houses
Creating an aura of half-lit sky with a touch of sullenness-
As a nearby frozen river reflecting the emptiness
Sleep has taken over the lives in this town
Everything still and yet the winds that live
To tell the tale of ghastly silence that engulfs the town
Those lights are no longer operated now, as
yellow tint and a bluish haze blend
themselves at Dawn
the pathway to the wooden block is dimmed
and a voice that reverberates, comes alive-
the story of the ghastly night resurrects
and the sun that shines is merely to cover the void
the dim-lit houses are the only mask
that give this town a mere touch of civilization.
