The Wait Poem by Diana Americano

The Wait

here i sit
lonely on a warm day
sun shines bright
while i gloom in shade
they pass by
while i just wait
wait to see a familiar face
so afraid to look ahead
so i keep my head down
invisible to the world
just waiting
waiting to be seen
waiting to be heard
waiting to be saved
my sanity is slipping again
my mind is going
gone
away
afraid of the world again
i hide myself
mirror covered
i dare not look
so i just wait
wait for my savior
a reason to stay
a long wait
a sad wait
a hopeless wait
no familiar face
they're all gone
the ones i loved
so I'll just wait
and wait
in the gloomy shade
away from the crowds
away from all humanity
until my savior calls
calls my name
so i will wait
and sit
until my savior comes
