The Way Life Is Poem by Hayley Pullen

The Way Life Is

My life's been twisted, turned, curved,
beaten to a bloody pulp more then once
but its still going on
I'm still kicking

I plan to leave this place
brake away from the beaten path as they say
I'll go my own way, far away, straight away to get away
someday, but not today

I'll stay for now
wait it out
choose a time that feels just right

I'll be gone quick
when the time comes
quick like lightning
I'll go quietly
quiet as a sleeping child

no one knows I'm gone when I'm gone
no one wonders,
no one cares

there's no light at the end of this tunnel
I'm facing, just darkness
a darkness that threatens to crush my very soul
to pieces

I dare to continue this path,
just until I see my light
the light I've looked for all my life

when I see it, I'll follow it
follow it to wherever it feels that I belong
the day I find my light is the day my life
will truly begin
