The Wedding Day Poem by Abigail Ayornu

The Wedding Day

Looking into the mirror, I saw my elegant reflection,
So nice and energetic to behold.
I checked my head to toe,
And was proud of the woman I had become.
The mirror was more like a friend to me.
It was my wedding day, and I was still speaking to my mirror,
To encourage me to be bold in the midst of crowd.
I looked very outstanding and attractive.
Suddenly, my mum opened the door, and was very excited to see me in my bridal gown.
She beckoned me to come closer, and gave me an intimate hug.
I cried, she asked, "why? "
I would miss you was all I could say.
My bridesmaids told me it was time.
To me, it was a dream I longed for, and now reality.
We got down the staircase and sat in the car.
It drove miles away.
It passed the restaurant I met him.
I call it, "love at first sight restaurant"
Since it held beautiful memories of our relationship.
I was highly ecstatic while taking selfies with my bridesmaids.
Not long, the car stopped at the auditorium.
Dad came for me to meet the bridegroom.
After the session, we left for our honeymoon.
My beloved looked me in the eye,
Telling me that he blessed the day he met a flower as me.
We exchanged love words and saw ourselves in another world
as bright as the stars,
Wishing the world wouldn't come to an end.
He is indeed a lion, having won my love till eternity.
