the weight of a heart
when ripe with blood-
what can be said
for the emptiness, displaced?
If out of sight
and out of mind
the beloved's face and voice,
each a precious entity
One dear, now discarded.
You wear your silence like a
dark cloak, withdrawn
Pale petal lips left wordless
How can I begin to imagine
the length and breadth
of that claimed temple encaged-
that your shadow might
fill me with, were it
wanting for Love?
The dusky dimness of your eyes,
fragile and impassioned things;
what can be said
for my spilt blood,
a casualty of my heart's war?
