They bow beneath the rules they did not make,
Their voices folded into careful thought.
No public ear receives the plaint they bear,
No law protects the sorrow in their steps.
Yet still they move with patience as their shield,
Endurance threaded through each careful day.
The world observes, yet often turns away,
Preferring comfort to the risk of truth.
Their cries exist in shadow, never sung,
Yet every silent act becomes a mark
Of courage quieted, not extinguished.
Even in enforced stillness, they persist,
Their dignity a slow, unyielding flame.
For though oppression tries to break the soul,
The human spirit finds its space to breathe,
And waits for justice in the hidden hours.
