The Wilderness, It Beckons Me Poem by Andy Barrette

The Wilderness, It Beckons Me

The wilderness, it beckons me
to come inside and stay.
It promises a better life
of simple work and play.
It holds, for me, a store
that I have never had to use
and a chance to feel ultimate freedom
that I just might lose.

I need to find the courage
to let all of this life go
and strive to walk another path
despite all that I know.
She just wants to take care of me
and put me to the test.
The wilderness can raise me up
by bringing out my best.
