The Windmills Of Our Minds Poem by Laurence Overmire

The Windmills Of Our Minds

We never know
Who another person is

We don't even know
Ourselves

Fools on donkeys' backs
Cylindrically

We ride

Our judgments stuck
In the point of a lance

We charge

Hating the shadows
Of who we think they are

Not realizing these
Haunting dis-figurines

Are but the shadows
Of ourselves.
