The Wish Poem by Stephen Pennell

The Wish

The Wish

I dance in the smoke, to a song that I wrote
I watch you pirouette like a girl on a box
the sights and the sound disappear into the background
I only have eyes for you

If only I knew what I should do, to bring you into my arms
Is it a sharp wit or a quip that will loosen those lips
Or is it a fast car or a diamond tiara, that will get me holding them hips
If only I knew I would give them to you
but alas im just a poor fellow you knew
