The Woman I Am Poem by Taushell Davis

The Woman I Am

I'm the kind of woman who'll hold her man down,
Lift him from the dirt, help him rise from the ground.
Through mud, through storms, till the water runs clean,
I stand beside him loyal, steady, unseen.

I'm the kind of woman who helps strangers in need,
A heart built for giving, a soul built to lead.
I pray to God daily to guard my man's way,
From the moment he leaves till he's home safe each day.

I'm the kind of woman who carries his stress,
Asking God for the wisdom to help fix the mess.
Never belittling him when the money runs thin,
I honor his effort, the fight within him.

I'm loyal and truthful once the walls fall away,
A woman who loves hard and chooses to stay.
I'll carry the house till he's back on his feet,
Just to see his smile that's my favorite treat.

I don't ask for much, just a love that is true,
A man who wants me the way I want him too.
I want to see passion burning bright in his eyes,
No games, no circles, no tricks, no lies.

God knows my heart and the battles I've crossed,
The kindness I gave, the pieces I lost.
He fights every foe that tries breaking me down,
He saw how I loved when my world spun around.

So here I stand skating life's ice in thin shoes,
Praying love wins in the end, not bruise after bruise.
May happiness find me, may peace be the theme
And may love be the ending of this long, faithful dream.
