The Woodpecker Poem by Marnie Memis

The Woodpecker

I went walking through the park today
And guess what I did see
A red and green woodpecker
And it was pecking on a tree
Now in its self that is not strange
But let me tell you this
As I walked nearer the woodpecker turned
Smiled and blew me a kiss
That can't be right I hear you say
But yes I swear its true
I don't tell lies I never have
Well maybe one or two
I stand and look around again
Not all is as it would seem
I waken up I'm in my bed
The whole things been a dream
