The Word Took Flesh And Dwelt Amongst Us! Poem by Dr John Celes

The Word Took Flesh And Dwelt Amongst Us!

The Word took flesh, dwelt amongst us,
One early morning called Christmas!
He chose just one virginal womb
To be His earthly, divine home;

The Word put on His fleshy dress,
And became God, the incarnate!
The Word that was heaven's Light then,
Became light in darkness for men;

The virgin's womb became alit;
The Word was true God and true man;
This man was sent by Father God
To light the way for truth-seekers;

Love that was God felt human love
In Blessed Virgin Mary's womb;
He was a baby Savior King,
Redeemer of the human race;

He was life and light for all things;
To earth, both joy and peace, He brings!
In humble way, He became born,
In an inn's manger, so forlorn!

He came to see the world He made;
For mankind's sins, by blood, He paid;
Oh, what a heart of divine love
Was sent to earth from home, above!

Through Him only all things were made;
To live in righteousness, He bade;
Emmanuel was His mighty name;
He grew up in wisdom and fame!
