The World Has Lost Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

The World Has Lost

The world has lost its innocence and light,
As darkness creeps upon us, day by day,
The sky once blue, now shrouded in dark night,
Oh, how we long for the sun's golden ray.
Gone are the days of peace and pure bliss,
Where love and kindness reigned in every heart,
Now hatred and violence, a deadly kiss,
Tearing us apart, tearing us apart.
Families torn, by wars and endless fight,
Children crying, with no safe place to hide,
How did we let this happen? Where's our sight?
What happened to humanity's true guide?
Oh, how I wish for love to conquer all,
To bring back the world's light, before we fall.
The earth, once a paradise, now in pain,
As nature's beauty slowly fades away,
The forests, once lush, now barren terrain,
As we destroy, with no thought, every day.
The skies polluted, the oceans choked,
The creatures once thriving, facing their end,
We've taken for granted, what mother earth invoked,
And now we face the consequences, my friend.
The world has lost its wonder, its charm,
As greed and selfishness take the lead,
The future seems grim, with no cause for alarm,
But we still have a chance, to plant the seed.
Let's come together, before it's too late,
To save the world, before it meets its fate.
But most of all, the world has lost its heart,
As we forget to see, the ones in need,
We turn away, from those who fall apart,
Ignoring their cries, as we continue to feed.
We've lost the empathy, the compassion,
The one thing that makes us truly human,
Instead, we've chosen hate and aggression,
Our souls tarnished, our vision inhuman.
Oh, world, what have we become?
Is it too late to change our ways?
Let's spread love and kindness, let's overcome,
And bring back the light, in these dark days.
For the world has lost, but we can still find,
The goodness within, and leave the darkness behind.
